Health and social care Apprenticeships provide great scope for career progression and enable you to choose the learning pathway that is right for you. You will learn skills and techniques that will provide you with a lifelong vocation and enjoy a career where you provide valuable care for others.

Apprenticeships teach you the skills that you will need for a long and successful career. Skills in health and social care are essential due to lifespans increasing. Careers in the health and social sector also offer excellent opportunities for career progression.

The need for skilled healthcare workers continues to increase as lifespans are getting longer, and as a result, the opportunities for a rewarding and progressive career in the care sector are on the increase. As a social care Apprentice, you will therefore have an excellent choice of career pathways where you can demonstrate your caring skills and develop your health and social care career.

The Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship is aimed at learners wishing to work in health and social care. The apprenticeship will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to work in a variety of health and social care settings.

The Lead Adult Care Apprenticeship is aimed at individuals that already have experience and knowledge within care or are in a senior role within a care setting and are wishing to progress in care.

Throughout the programme you are required to work alongside other professionals to develop your practical skills and knowledge. All learners will have 1:1 support from a qualified health and social care assessor.

The typical duration of these apprenticeships are 18 months and the qualifications achieved are:

  • Level 2 – Care Certificate and Level 2 Diploma in Care
  • Level 3 – Care Certificate and Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care

Once the qualification element of the apprenticeship is completed, you will be expected to prepare for End Point Assessment. If required, functional skills will be completed during your apprenticeship programme.

Those who have completed the Level 2 in Adult Care can progress to the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Diploma/Apprenticeship. With other progression routes including the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care or Level 5 Diploma in Adult Care or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Adult Care.
